Wafa'a Céline Halawi
Wafa’a is a Lebanese filmmaker and actress currently living in Beirut, where she teaches Filmmaking and Art of Film at the Lebanese American University, LAU.
She graduated from LAU then pursued her studies at the New York Film Academy before completing her M.A. in Film at University College London.
After working extensively as a 1st Assistant Director in the UK at Pinewood Studios and in Lebanon, she directed 7 shorts, amongst which We Might As Well and Salt in My Nose, short dance films both respectively selected at Cinedans Festival Amsterdam

2011 and 2013, and screened at the opening of the 2012 Lebanese Film Festival, as well as exhibited at JABAL 2013.
Wafa’a ‘s first feature script Cello was selected at the “Scene Insiders” at Gothenburg Film Festival 2010, and won 1st prize for Feature development at ENGAGE workshop by MEDIA in 2011 (Dublin, Edinburgh, Tallinn and Helsinki). Awarded producer Christine Vachon was part of the Jury. Cello has also been selected for the Cinema Development Fund at Cinemed 2012.
Having just completed shooting a dance video with KAFA, in support of the law to protect women against domestic violence, Wafa’a was also published in the collective book Of Others (Tamyras Publisher), and just completed her new dance film Can You and I Really Dance Together?
