 Thaer Hizzi 

Thaer Hizzi lives and works in Aleppo, Syria.

 

He studied fine arts at the Lebanese University.

 

In 1996, he becomes an active member of the art scene in Syria.

 

In 2012, an unfortunate incident leads to the loss of his  artist workshop, along with it, all his paintings and family memories in his hometown city of Yabroud vanished.

 

As a desperate attempt to cling on to the last images of what was lost, Thaer Hizzie tries to paint on A4 papers the faces of

the people and friends as he remembers them. He captures their images to hang them on walls in order to bring some warmth to the atmosphere of dark and cold city of Aleppo.

 

His works focuses on departed loved ones and loss, those who can never be reached again.
